Is local admin permission mandatory for installing Power BI Desktop Application to my computer?

depends on every company's policy, most of them are yes.

you could download power bi then try installing it, if it requires a permission then you request one

Actually I have local admin permission for now and Power BI desktop application was installed long time ago. New IT policy is taking back local admin permission. So I needs solid confirmation whether local admin permimssion is mandatory for future Power BI desktop application upgradation. Then I will take the business reason for exception request. On the ohter words, I have little chance to try.

Does anybody have such experience on local admin permission vs Power BI desktop application installation/upgradation?

Hi @fexiao ,

Here I have a test on myside, I think we need loacl admin permission to download the Power BI Desktop.

If you don't have local admin permission, you will be asked to enter the admin username and the password when you install the Power BI Desktop.
