Is it possible to analyze and compare changes in one table to a reference table?

Hi everyone. Apologies if this is a dumb question.

What i'm trying to do:

  • Reference excel file with ~8000 rows

  • Replica of the reference file that is being changed on an on-going basis. Changes happening to this file are things such as adding and removing rows and values changing.

I was wondering if there was a way to track the changes happening by comparing it to the reference file.

For ex. this is the sum total of a column before, and this is the sum total of this column after changes.

And is there anything else that you think I should know? Thanks in advance!

There is no persistent storage in Power BI. The solution is to take snapshots of the file and load them all. Have a read of this article. It is similar but different. https://exceleratorbi.com.au/keeping-track-of-changes-on-a-website-power-bi/

you need a way to take a copy of the file. You could possibly use SharePoint version control (not sure) or maybe automate taking a copy with a tool like powerUpdate.
