Insert new column at start of parent column

I am trying to produce a matrix for school grades. Currently, I have a matrix that lists the grades by subject, then teacher, then the name of each grade (one for attainment, one for effort). I have another Query that pulls through the students target grades and I would like them listed as well. When I insert the target values into the Columns field, it puts a target column in front of every other column.

So before it looked like this (obviously, the header cells are merged in the matrix):

Art   English
Teacher1 Teacher2 Teacher3 Teacher4
GradeEffortGradeEffortGradeEffortGradeEffort
A1A1A1A1
B2B2B2B2
C3C3C3C3

Then when I added the new values it looked like this:

Art       English
Teacher1   Teacher2   Teacher3   Teacher4
TargetGradeTargetEffortTargetGradeTargetEffortTargetGradeTargetEffortTargetGradeTargetEffort
AAA1AAA1AAA1AAA1
ABA2ABA2ABA2ABA2
ACA3ACA3ACA3ACA3

And what I want it to look like is this:

Art     English
Teacher1  Teacher2  Teacher3  Teacher4
TargetGradeEffortTargetGradeEffortTargetGradeEffortTargetGradeEffort
AA1AA1AA1AA1
AB2AB2AB2AB2
AC3AC3AC3AC3

Does anyone know if this is possible? I would even settle for having one target column at the beginning of the subject if that's easier?

Thanks
