Increasing power bi memory

I have a power bi report that is using live connection and connected to azure analysis service. Recently I am getting an error on visual that it has exceeded resources and not able to display. I think it's because of too much data. As the report is connected to azure would increasing memory tier on azure fix this? Or what would be the other solution. Thank you

Hi @NISH72 ,

In the official document, the error message is explained like this:

Spoiler

This visual has exceeded the available resources. Try filtering to decrease the amount of data displayed.

Your visual has attempted to query too much data for us to complete the result with the available resources. Try filtering the visual to reduce the amount of data in the result.

You can refer this similar issue and blog:

  1. visual has exceeded available resources - azure live connection
  2. The “Visual Has Exceeded The Available Resources” Error In Power BI

In addition, overly complex models and formulas may also cause this problem, you can refer this document and video about how to optimize a model and formulas in power bi that could help you:

  1. Optimize a model for performance in Power BI
  2. dax optimization examples

@NISH72 since you are using a live connection, I don't think it is an issue with the size, I'm sure it has something to do with measures you are using, maybe DAX needs to improve. Usually, poor DAX or poor data model (the relationship between tables) can have performance implications and lead to a memory error.
