I have a table similar to the dummy below. I took the column SSN and used Tex.PadStart to add back the leading 0's that were missing, however, I am not sure how I can go about getting this into a typical SSN format (###-##-####) in M or Dax. I tried using the DAX format function, but that only works on numbers, not text. Any advice here?

You can keep it in number format and then use this in a custom column
= Number.ToText([SSN], "000-00-0000")
