How do I do a join that contains all columns from both tables?

My goal is to combine two tables into a single table, and display the resulting table in my PowerBI Report.

In the below screenshot, I performed a join in Power Query Editor to join two tables. Each row in the first table should match to exactly one row from the second table. (Note: contact_number isn't actually set as a primary key in my SQL database, which could be contributing to the issue I'm having.)

The resulting table ended up having some kind of link thing to the second table, instead of having all columns from both tables like I wanted.

Maybe this link thing is fine for my use case and I can work with it. It doesn't really matter to me as long as I can display all the data in my report. But I'm not seeing an option to include any fields from vwContactInfo in the report editor. I'm still only seeing columns from the USR_ConventionProxyVoters table.

So my question is: how do I display columns from both tables in my report? Did I do the merge wrong? Is this an issue with my database? Or is there something I need to do to get the columns to show up in the report editor?

Hi @ihorner ,

After performing the merge you will need to expand the columns from the 2nd table in order to load them.

Clicking on the button highlighted below will show you a list of options from which you can choose which columns from the 2nd table you want to load.

Hi, I'm having an issue with this solution. It takes a long time to load my merged table because it seems to be loading all 2 million rows from the vwContactInfo table. Why is it doing this? The resulting merged table only has 26 rows, so shouldn't it just be doing a query to get 26 vwContactInfo records?

That worked! Thank you so much!
