Error: The managed provider 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client' could not be instantiated.

Hello,

I have been getting the following error message while connecting to Oracle Exadata. I saw similar post regarding this issue and one of them mentioned to install ODP.net driver, I tried installing it but not sure whether it has been installed correctly or not as I am getting the same error message even after installing. Is there a specific location where this needs to be installed or something. Please help me with this issue.

hi, @Anonymous

What version of Power BI Desktop do you install? 32-bit or 64-bit? Please firstly make sure that you install the correct Oracle client software on the machine that runs Power BI Desktop, for more details, please check this article.

However, if the issue still persists, please check the reference of machine.config files in the following folders. There is a similar thread for your reference.

C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework64\v4.0.30319\Config
C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.30319\Config

Best Regards,

Lin
