Error Message "There is an error in XML document (1, 1)"

Hi Guys, 

 

I recieve this message when trying to open any PowerBI Desktop file. I started getting this message today and I have no idea what's causing it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PowerBI Desktop. I tried updated my gateway and nothing has helped. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @ansonge,

 

As document suggested, please try:

  1. Uninstall or stop the Power BI On-Premises Data Gateway Windows service
  2. Run Power BI desktop with administartor privilege

 

Besides, as mentioned in this similar thread, please delete the AppData folder for Power BI Desktop for a test.

Thanks, I did all of the things you mentioned except stopping the gateway. I think the gateway was the main culprit.
