Hi,
Can you please explain the Edit Permissions in Data Source Settings in Power BI.
Can you please describe the Privacy Level options and what is the use of it?
Privacy Levels are None , Public , Private & Organizational
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you please confirm If I select Private from the Privacy Level , What would be the result at the end user?
and where exactly I can check it this Privacy Level is working?
Thanks,
Lakshmi
As i understand it data from data sources using the private privacy level cannot be shared with other data sources. This includes other private data sources and only authorized users can access the data. The privacy levels define how the data source is isolated from other data sources.
One way to check if it's working i would guess to be for an unauthorized user to try and access the data source.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you please any one give the example for the Privacy levels settings on the data source? And what are the data sources we can work with this?
And can you please confirm If I give the Privacy settings on my data source, users can able to edit/view the data source?
Thank you.
Hi @LDevi86
In Power BI datasets that combine data from multiple data sources in a single M query, privacy levels define a how the data sources are isolated from each other
As for your problem: "Can you please any one give the example for the Privacy levels settings on the data source? And what are the data sources we can work with this?"
you could test with data sources suggetsed by the following link.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-privacy-levels#configure-a-privacy-level
Since the configuration is not automatically transferred to the Power BI service when you upload your Power BI Desktop file, to get a successful test, please refer to "how to configure Privacy level in Power BI Service".
