To reduce the size of my imported data I would like to clean and transform my data before loading it into the PBI. Could you name any ETL software/Application that I can clean my data then connect and import the data into PBI?
please give me a few names so I can check with our IT dep. Thank you!
Hi , @NilR
Based on your description, you want to reduce the ETL operations done by importing data in Power BI.
For your needs, you can try dataflow in Power BI Service.
Dataflow can support connecting to multiple data sources and can ETL the connected data sources on Power Query Online on Power BI Service. After processing, you can configure a corresponding scheduled refresh on the data flow to ensure the preprocessing operation of the data.
At the same time, we can use our Power BI Desktop to connect data from our data streams that have completed preprocessing operations, so that ETL operations can be completed in the cloud.

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

How is dataflow different than PowerQuery in the PowerB software?
does this dataflow works on PBI Server? we don't have PBI service 😞
Hey,
not sure what you mean by "clean ... before loading ..."
This is what you can do using Power Query/dataflows.
If you want to "repair" data inside DB2, then you must consider adjusting you LOB/CRM/ERP systems as well to avoid data quality issues in the first place.
You can look for data quality management systems like profisee or information
You can also use Azure Data Factory for data pipelining outside of the Power BI realm.
Regards,
Tom
Thank you! I need a tool to aggregate the data before importing into PBI.
