I parameterize both connection and database strings in all development. After updating to March and now April, the Connection input will correctly accept a parameter, however, the database input populates with the name of the parameter instead of the value of the parameter.
Example:
Parameter Name: Connection String // Parameter Value: sample.database.windows.net
Parameter Name: Database // Parameter Value: sampledatabase
Expected output in PBI data source settings for connecting: sample.database.windows.net;sampledatabase
Actual output: sample.database.windows.net;Database
Connection fails on authentication because database does not exist.
