Data not refreshing from Sharepoint (but does from a downloaded version of same document)

Hi,

My organisation uses Power BI Pro, but had the trial of Premium. Our dashboard gets its data from an Excel file stored in our organisation's SharePoint. There's never been an isue with this.

Coinciding with the expiration of our trial, refreshing data no longer reflects updates on the Excel spreadsheet. There is no error and the refresh appears to run successfully, however I can see that new data on Excel is not being picked up inside Power Query/BI.

Confusingly, when I download the Excel document and make changes stored locally, Power BI picks these changes up no problem.

Is this to do with our trial running out? This seems obvious, but I can't work out what premium feature we were relying on for this to work.

Try check the scheduled refresh settings - pro has a limit of 8 refreshes per day, while premium has a limit of 48. If the scheduled refresh hasn't been updated since your trial expired, then your data will stop updating after the 8th time. (manual refresh should still work though, and that has no limits per day even on Pro accounts).

Hi Vicky, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, the manual refresh (I assume you mean pressing the refresh button either in Power BI desktop or Power Query) does not work either. It all works perfectly when the spreadsheet is stored on my laptop; it stops working when that document is stored on SharePoint!
