Hi @Anonymous ,

DAX as LEFT RIGHT and LEN, however you are on the query editor and Query Editor uses M language in that you don't have those function you need to use:

  • Text.Start = LEFT
  • Text.End = RIGHT
  • Text.Lenght = LEN

Check the link below with a full description of text functions in M language.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerquery-m/text-functions

Dax is used on the front-end of desktop.

I edit Query you have to use M. And most functions are Text.*

Like Text.left and text.right

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/text-functions-dax

In Dax you have left, right

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dax/text-functions-dax

Hi @Anonymous ,

You are creating this at wrong place. Query editor supports M code not DAX.

LEFT is a DAX function.

For DAX go out of query editor and create as follows:

If this helps and resolves the issue, appreciate a Kudos and mark it as a Solution! 🙂
