Count rows per category - chart building and measures

Hi,

I am quite new with the Power BI and I have a problem creating a specific chart that will show what is needed.

So, assuming that I have the data as below, I would like to show count of category "Indirect/Direct" shown as clustered column chart with a split for "Matching Type" per category in a specific period. So some kind of combination of clustered and stacked chart. Do you know if this can be done? Or how differently I can approach this topic to have the needed data? Power BI is not allowing to use more values when you need a legend as well.

Doc IDIndirect/DirectMatching TypePeriod
XXXDirectAutomaticDec-21
YYYIndirectManualJan-22
ZZZNon-PurchasingManualJan-22
AAADirectAutomaticDec-21
BBBDirectAutomaticDec-21
CCCIndirectManualJan-22

Thanks in advance!

Zuzanna

Hi @zzieba ,

Do you want to count ID based on multiple categorys (Indirect/Direct and Matching Type)? Power BI only support you to add one column in Legend in your visual. Here I suggest you to try small multiples function.

For reference:

Create small multiples in Power BI

Or you can merge Indirect/Direct and Matching Type as a new column in Power Query Editor and add it into Power Query.

This is not possible with the standard visuals, as you have observed. See if there are custom visuals available for this, or create your own.

NOTE:  What you are trying to do will go outside of the recommended dimensionality for report users.  In other words, the risk of confusing your users will increase substantially.
