Hi @Pawank ,

The username and password you use to connect to Sugar CRM should have the required permissions to read and write data. Because Power BI will need to retrieve the data (read access) and make changes or updates when it performs a write-back operation (write access).

If you don't know the instance URL or login credentials, contact your system administrator for assistance.

Xianda Tang

Hi @v-xiandat-msft Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to connect Sugar CRM from Power BI. I have tried some third party conenctors but those are not supporting 12 version of sugar crm.

Hi @Pawank ,

You can take a look at this answer:

You can use ODBC and ODATA.

Hey everyone,

John from CData here. Noticed you're having some trouble connecting to Sugar CRM with our ODBC driver, and I'm here to help you get through this. Let’s dive into what’s going on:

  • User Name and Password Requirements: Yes, both user name and password are required for establishing a connection. The permissions inherited through the CData ODBC Driver are the same as the permissions of the user account used to log in. This means if your user account has read/write access in the SugarCRM UI, the same access level will apply when connecting via the CData ODBC driver.
  • Sugar CRM Instance URL Format: Regarding your question about the URL format, it's crucial to use the correct protocol. As pointed out by a community member, using 'https://' instead of 'http://' might resolve the error, especially if your instance is configured to run on a secure protocol (which is often the case). The Sugar CRM instance URL is typically the web address you use to access your Sugar CRM account in a browser. It's important to ensure that this URL is entered correctly in the configuration settings.
  • Error Details and Log File: Without the log file for the error, it's challenging to diagnose the specific issue. However, the issue might be related to the protocol used in the URL, as using 'http://' may lead to connection errors if your Sugar CRM instance requires a secure connection (https://).

Additionally, if the issue persists, you may consider reaching out directly to support@cdata.com for more specialized support.

We're here to help and look forward to assisting you in resolving this issue as smoothly as possible.
