Connect to SQL server with Localhost via UNIX socket

Hi,

I am trying to connect to SQL server data source and encounter an error.

Database server details:

Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
Server type: MySQL
Server version: 5.7.24-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 - (Ubuntu)
Protocol version: 10

The server IP address is loacated in the hosts file within windows' operating system folder.

I tried to enter the ip address and database name as usual an encountered this error:

Details: "Microsoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

Hi @admin_e4e ,

Would you please follow the steps below to locate your issue:

1. First check whether the server name or alias of SQL server is set correctly

2. Check whether TCP/IP protocol is enabled on the client side and SQL server side

3. Check whether the SQL server Browser service of SQL server starts normally

4. Ping the IP address of the server where SQL server is installed to see if it works, and test whether the port number of SQL server listening is enabled

@admin_e4e , Your Server type: MySQL.  As per the description given. Are you connecting to the right DB

Yes. the IP is correct. I think the problem is that the connection is configured partly local via hosts file located in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. the IP address of the server is configured there.
