Column data formatting options greyed out

Hi,

I am trying to format a number value as currency by selecting the table field on the right hand side and using the formatting options in the 'column tools' tab but all formatting options are greyed out?

(My datasource is Azure Analysis Services)

Thanks for your responses, I have done the formatting on measures in Azure Analysis Services - its not ideal as PowerBi then treats the currency and percentage formatted numbers as text but works for my current requirements

hi  @WayneM

For your datasource is Azure Analysis Services, so you must use live connection model.

In this model, you could do any modeling in the power bi, since ssas is a complete data model, all the modeling must be done in ssas, you could only create a report level measure in power bi and do formatting for this measure.

Hi @WayneM ,

The format would need to be set in Azure Analysis Services. You can get around this by creating a measure that points to that measure you are trying to format. You should then be able to format that.

New Sales = [Sales]

as an example.
