I have this problem in PowerBi desktop where I changed the name of a column name in my source file (Excel) and when I click refresh in PowerBi, it gives me an error message saying it couldn't find the previously named column. It is like it cannot recognize the name change.
Unfortunately PowerBI doesnt recognise the column changes from source files.
You should avoid changing the field names from source data
