Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'config')

Hello!

I get this message when I open one of my PBIX files.  I did not click anything or interact in any way with the desktop.  The message intermittenly appears and I do not know what is triggering it.  It's not all PBIX files.  It's one specific one.

I found this in the details when I click "Copy details to clipboard": Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'config').

The PBIX is connected to a Power BI dataset in a premium workspace.

Thanks for the help!

Hi @MiquelPBI ,

It seems like you're encountering an error in Power BI with the message "something went wrong": an error occurred while rendering the report. This issue might be caused by various factors, such as issues with the visuals, data model, or expressions in the report.

Here are some general troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Make sure you're using the latest version of Power BI Desktop.
  2. Check if the issue is related to a specific visual or data source in the report.
  3. Review any custom expressions or calculated columns for errors.
  4. If the issue is related to a custom visual, ensure you're using the latest version of the visual and consider contacting the visual's publisher for support.
  5. If your report is using a custom theme, try removing it and see if the issue exists.

Best Regards,

Jianbo Li

Thank you for the reply.  I completed the steps but the message still was popping up.

I had the On-Object interaction preview feature turned on.  I turned that off and have not seen the error message since.  I wonder if a bug was introduced with July 2023.
