Can you use a measure and SWITCH to change categorical data into numerical?

Let's say I have categories A, B, and C all in one column. Can I create a measure that translates the column into A -> 1, B -> 2, C -> 3? Thanks!

@DaxPadawan , You should prefer a new column in such measure can do that but will not work as slicer or group by

Switch([Column],

"A",1,

"B",2,

"C",3)

Hi @DaxPadawan

Based on available info:

=
SWITCH ( SELECTEDVALUE ( 'Table'[Category] ), "A", 1, "B", 2, "C", 3 )

Hello @amitchandak , what do you mean it will not work as a slicer or group by?

Hi, @DaxPadawan

You need to note that you can't put measure into a slicer.
