I'm trying to connect to Azure SQL Database , i'm using the same server name that I do with SSMS and the same SQL User/PW that I do everywhere else and am able to connect to the db from the PC that i'm using , using other tools, so I know the Azure Firewall shouldn't be a problem.
I'm using a fresh install of PowerBI Desktop and a brand new project or whatever they're called.
The Get Data wizard fails with "The user was not authorized" no matter which level i tell it to try to connect to. (The server or db level)
[Somehow this posted twice.. i deleted the other posting, sorry about that]
Solved! Go to Solution.
I just created a new Database in Azure and now I can connect to the new one.
Hi there, I used it everyday and works great.
Are you using "Microsoft Azure SQL Database" when you are connecting from desktop?
Quick question, what user name and password you are using?
Also I always use database, and enter my Azure user name and password.

Not sure why you cannot connect to existing database? Must be some permission issues than? It will good to find out the reason for future.
