Appended data at each refresh

Hi everyone,

I have put together a PBI report that connects to a goverment website, download economic numbers, and these numbers are used in reporting. Whenever the users refresh, they are presented with the latest figures. We want to be able to keep existing data intact, and append the new values in the dataset. I'd imagine I'll create a custom column to carry update time stamp on it.

any ideas how to go about this?

Thanks

Kaz

@Anonymous Incremental loads is still not yet availabe in power bi desktop. You need to have middle layer database where you can do incremental load and then use power bi. You can vote for that idea here.

Hi

You only have update command for external data in PPivot. So I think that kind of timestamped manipulation ( append, insert into the table) should be done outside of your model using SQL commands, procedures. Once you have it you can sync it into your model and make selection, time machine display, etc.
