Adjust waterfall data based on filter (without bookmarks)

Greetings all!

I have a report page with a waterfall chart displaying the amount of funds awarded by year (image 1 - Category: "Award Date" Year only), and I would like to be able to narrow into the funding by month only if a filter is applied (image 2 - Category: "Award Date" Year & Month). If I have the visualization set to include the Year & Month and it is not filtered by year (image 3) it is too cluttered. Is there anyway to achieve a smooth transition from Image 1 to Image 2 without using bookmarks?

(Image 1) If there is no filter applied, I would like the visual to look like this:

.FilterAll.png

(Image 2) When a filter is applied to a specific year, I would like the visual to look like this:

FilterMonthCorrect.png

(Image 3) If I include the Month variable on the unfiltered visual, it looks like this:

FilterMonthAll.png

Hi @MeggieD00dles ,

Regarding your question, you may be able to create field parameters to achieve your goal.

The Table data is shown below:

1.Create a field parameter

Make sure to select the Year field first.

2.Place the created field parameters into a waterfall chart

Fantastic! I was not aware of the Parameter feature, but this works like a charm. Thank you so much for the solution!
