Total of all values combined prior to date (i am a rookie)

I work in recruitment and i want to make a visual that shows the numer of emplyees at that moment.

tabel: tblEmployee
Field: fldStart, fldEnd,
Data:
Year - number of active employees (in, out)
2018 - 400 employees
2019 - 425 employees (50 employees left us, 75 new employees joined us)
2020 - 455 employees (45 left us, 75 joined us)

When i make the visual, every year start its own count and does not take the numbers from last year in account. So i can show the growth but not the total number of employees. It needs to count ALL the employees that are still active. I tried using the waterfall, but that somehow starts at 0 and also doenst take the total in account.

My question:
How do i make a dax statement that allows me to do an ongoing count?
Wat visual is the best visual to use for this?

I hope i made my problem clear so you can help me on my way. Thank you very much in advance
