Do I need to use the filter funtion?

Hello,

I am trying to calculate sales total only for fiscal year 2020. Any ideas why the below DAX measure wont work? If I try to use the FILTER function it tells me "incorrect parameter used"

CALCULATE('Invoice'[Sales Amount - Total], ('Invoice Date'[Fiscal Year Name] = 2020))

Well you are kind of technically using the FILTERS function already, that's just syntax sugar. I believe the fully canonical of what you have is:

CALCULATE('Invoice'[Sales Amount - Total], FILTER('Invoice Date', 'Invoice Date'[Fiscal Year Name] = 2020))

But, tough to say, maybe a missing relationship or wrong tables and column names? Who knows. Could be a lot of things.

What's happening with the measure in it's current form?

And is 'Invoice'[Sales Amount - Total] a measure?

Is [Fiscal Year Name] a number or text type?

Are the 2 tables related?
