Share Dashboards across organization but limit people to only see their country results

Hello Community,

I need to explore a way that I can efficently allow different people in my organization to only see data from a dashboard relative to their role and their country. I cannot allow a person working in Germany too see the data from Spain for example. What is the most efficent way I can do this ? I have explored RLS (row level security) but it does not fit my needs, was also wondering if there is a way using Power Automate that would help me achieve my goals?

Any ideias would help and are very much apreciated !!!

Hi @DanielCarvalho,

There are different approaches you can take to achieve your goal of allowing different people in your organization to only see data from a dashboard relative to their role and country. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Create different dashboards for each country/region: You can create different dashboards for each country or region, and give access to users based on their role and location. This way, users will only be able to see the data that is relevant to their country or region.

  2. Use Power Automate to filter data: Power Automate can be used to filter data based on specific criteria. You can create a flow that filters data based on the user's role and country, and then displays the filtered data on the dashboard.

  3. Use dynamic row-level security (RLS): Dynamic RLS can be used to filter data based on specific criteria such as the user's role and location. Unlike static RLS, dynamic RLS allows you to create rules that are based on user input, which can be useful in your case.

  4. Use Power BI Embedded: Power BI Embedded allows you to embed dashboards and reports into your own applications, and you can use custom authentication to control access to the data. This approach may require more technical expertise, but it can provide greater flexibility and control over data access.

Ultimately, the approach you choose will depend on your specific needs and constraints. It may be useful to consult with a Power BI expert or consultant to help you determine the best approach for your organization.

Thank you for your answers... I am going to explore the last 3 options and see if any of them will work for my situation. My biggest issue is that its thousands of different people to give access to and they can also move teams, leave the company and so on and it would be a pain to do so manually!! Also the different dashboards that you suggested is a no for us and is one of the main things we are trying to avoid so Im going to check out the other 3 and as soon as I can report back for some feedback!!
