REFRESH ERROR: "exception was raised by the IDataReader interface"

Certain Semantic models do not refresh the data, returning the message "The operation is timed out.. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error message and provider documentation for further information and corrective action. "

Obs.: "operation is timed out" has never been an issue before.

1) What is a "IDataReader interface"? (This error message has not appeared before);

2) How is it possible to overcome this constant error?

The model refreshes normally when running on POWER BI Desktop, nonetheless, once uploaded to POWER BI Service, the error occurs.

Coincidentally, the data tables used in an ‘inner join’ query are the ones returning the error.

Hi  @RodDuncan 

Can you refresh your semantic models normally ? It is difficult to determine the cause of the problem based on this error alone. You need to start troubleshooting the problem from the data source. Is your data source working properly? Are you able to refresh data on Desktop? Do you have gateway applied and is your gateway working properly?

That may well be, but things change, data volumes increase, system performance fluctuates etc.

Did it fail after five hours?
