Premium Capacity and License

Hi,

My company is considering buying a Premium per Capacity, but we would like to implement a few limitations in order to control what is published there. As far as we know, our readers won't need any user license to display the reports inside a premium per capacity workspace, is that right?

So, we don't know if users would still need a Pro License to open reports from a pro workspace even if we had purchased a PPC, but chose not to upgrade that specific workspace and leave it as Pro.

If a Pro License is still needed for those Pro workspaces after buying a PPC, is there any way to set a limit to the model size published in a PPC workspace? (1GB as in a Pro workspace)

Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly and thanks in advance for all your answers.

Cris.

Hi @MCMM

To the best of my knowledge you can't restrict the size of a Dataset that users publish into a Premium Capacity workspace. For many the whole point of Premium Capacity is that it allows larger Datasets, why would you want to restrict it ?

I suppose the best solution would be to have a REST API process that finds and reports on datasets past a arbitary limit, but there's nothing pre-built to do this.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much @Burningsuit,

Regarding the control over published content, in a PPC we would like some users to be able to publish reports there but with a model size limit (1GB at max). Is it possible to achieve this in a premium per capacity workspace?

I read the documentation provided, but couldn't find anything related to this topic.

BR,

Cris

Hi @MCMM

Firstly your users will still need a licence to consume content from a Premium Capacity Workspace. This can be a free licence, but be aware users will still need to get a free licence or have a free license assigned to them. Free licences only work on Premium Capacity workspaces. If there is content on Pro workspaces users will need Pro licences to view them. Pro licences are also required to publish reports or datasets to any workspace, Pro or Premium Capacity.

with a Premium Capacity licence users can mark workspaces as Premium Capacity workspaces. Typically you can control what content is loaded by managing the access to the workspace, "Members" and "Cotributors" can publish content to the workspace, "Viewers" can only view content in the workspace. Administrators also get many capacity management options.

Hope this helps

Stuart
