Hi,
Considering the following 2 options
1) Creating dimension datasets and then using these in downstream composite data models
2) Creating dimension dataflows and then uisng these in downstream composite data models.
An advantage of option 1 is that can hide columns on the datasets at this stage in the reporting view e.g surrogate key columns so users don't see them and can also apply RLS on them
With option 2 understand that cannot apply RLS on dataflow directly and each time import that dataflow into a dataset need apply the RLS each time rather than applying just once in option 2
Another problem seeing is that don't seem to have ability to hide columns in dataflows
With option 2 understand can then have further chaining and limited to 3 datasets in chain
Is there an ability to hide columns in dataflows such as surrogate key columns so can import them into dataset?
Any other thoughts on the above 2 options and if power bi intend to extend the ability in future to use more than 3 data models in a chain?
Thanks
Hi @po ,
As far as I know, hiding a column in Dataflow is not supported at the moment. If you would like to suggest some feature improvements, you may also vote the idea and comment here to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
