Connectivity issue from Power BI to Azure DataBricks

Hi Team,

We are importing data from Azure databricks to PBI and published it into PBI Service Premium Workspace.
The data refresh from PBI desktop working fine .However when we try to schedule refresh from Workspace getting the following Authorisation error :

Failed to update data source credentials: [Microsoft][ThriftExtension] (14) Unexpected response from server during a HTTP connection: Unauthorized/Forbidden error response returned, but no token expired message received

We are authorizing using Azure AD credentials in both from PBI desktop and PBI Service. In desktop it is working fine and getting latest data from DataBricks but from PBI service it is throwing the above mentioned error

Attaching the error Screenshot

We use OAuth method for authentication. Which gives above shown error from Service but works fine from PBI Desktop

Any idea how to fix the issue? If this is some access Restriction then why it works from PBI Desktop but not from Service?

Regards
Michel

Hi, @michel_attin

Check the credentials in the data source settings.Make sure that the Azure AD account you entered has permissions for the data source. You can check out the following documents:

Review OAuth token expiration and renewal settings. If the token is about to expire and is not properly renewed, it can lead to an authorization error. You can check out the following documents:

Check the assigned permissions and roles in Azure. Make sure that the Power BI service has the required permissions to access Azure Databricks.

Check that the Databricks server is up and running and accessible from the network. Or, as GilbertQ says, check to see if your firewall is blocking Databricks connections.

Hi @michel_attin

I would suggest looking at your connectivity to your databricks system. Maybe there is a firewall issue which is stopping the service from connecting to your databricks.
