Hello dear Power BI Community,
I can't seem to find the answer for the following question anywhere.
We recently did a Power BI PoC and compared Power BI Service with Power BI Report Server (on Prem) and both PBI Desktop Clients (the "normal" one and the RS specific).
I know that you cannot open .pbix Files which make use of special Features only available in Power BI Service in Power BI Desktop RS (The Desktop Client for the on Premises Deployment of Power BI). You just get a message indicating that this .pbix file contains Features not available in Power BI Desktop RS.
However: We can open .pbix files created with the not RS specific Power BI Desktop Client in Power BI Desktop RS in case this .pbix does not make use of these special Features mentioned above.
Still we are not completely sure whether we may experience any problems or bugs when we continue developing those .pbix files originally created with the Power BI Desktop in Power BI Desktop RS.
Can anyone clarify that there won't occur any future bugs or incompatibilities later on? Or has someone of you made bad experiences with opening .pbix files created in Power BI Desktop in Power BI Desktop RS?
