Replace Excel data source with Power BI Dataset

Hi, thanks in advance for any help

Is there an easy way to change the data source used in an Excel file to use a Power BI Dataset without having to redo any pivots already set up - simply change the source of the data?

We we can create an excel file with the connection to the PBI dataset, but in a new/blank workbook only.

It is not possible to replace a excel source with power bi dataset, and it is also not wise to do so. Because Power BI dataset only supports live connection mode, which you cannot access query editor to pivot table and other transformations. I would suggest you to connect to the datasource of that dataset(only for import or direct query mode), then copy paste all other steps to the new query, for example(the steps marked with red):

Hi @CrazyHorse66 ,

You can simply replace the data source using the data source settings

Just make sure data structure is the same.
