PowerBI connection to Excel and Timeline usage: No Date Format available

Dear Forum,

I have created a PowerBI Report that is available via PowerBI Online. I have connected this Report to Excel via the PowerBI Plugin. I have formatted 2 columns in PowerBI as "Date" (format: dd.MM.yyyy). This is working online in PowerBI.

When using the Dataset in Excel and trying to insert a Timeline, I get the error message that no data with Date-Format is available. I have tried for hours now but haven't got a clue how to solve this.

Can anyone help?

Thank you very much!

Kind Regards, Jochem

Hi @jneijssen ,

Please change data type in Power query editor and check again.

Dear Frank,

Thank you very much for your attempt to help me. Unfortunately this is not the solution. In the PowerBI-Desktop-App I have formatted the field with dates as "Date". When using analyse in excel, this field is not recognised as such. When trying to insert a timeline in Excel, I get the message back that a "Date"-field is not recognised.

I habe tried all sorts of date settings in the PowerBI-App. Nothing helped so far.

Kind regards,

Jochem
