Hi!
I've got a Power Query model with 300+ M-queries including a bunch of custom functions, parameters built in Excel and want to move this into VSCode (limitations of using Advance Editor + wanting to save code in a manner where I can us GIT for version control). I've installed the VSCode with WSL and added the Power Query extension but I haven't been able to find much documentations of how to work with this extension and am stuck on some pretty foundational stuff. I can't figure out how to "reference" othe queries (as imput data/parameters/custom functions etc. ...) in my VSCode m-queries?
I'm a novice "developer-in-training" and have no idea where to even start on this: Is there some equivalent of header files or libraries /something like an import statement in Python or an #include statement in C? Can can I use shell scripting to link different queries? Can my M code take (linux) command line arguments?
Once I'm done (re)building the Power-Query M ETL part of my model in VSCode can I then use the outputs from these queries to (re)build my DAX /Power Pivot model also in VSCode?
Is this possible in VSCode (and if so how do I do this?) or otherwise do I need to "upgrade" to the full Visual Studio?
Also can anyone recommend any reference materials /tutorials for how to work with Power Query M + Power BI DAX models in VSCode?
Many many thanks in advance!
