Analyze in excel system error

When opening a dataset to analyze in excel, it prompts my for authentication once, pops by this message, prompts me for authentication again, pops this message up one final time and exits.  I've tried re-installing OLE DB for tabular versions 14 and version 13 (as described here.)  I've even tried uninstalling excel, and re-installing it.  I strongly suspect it's a problem on my local machine, has anyone else run into this?

@Jeremie,

I can reproduce your issue in the 1709 version of Office.

However, Analyze in Excel feature works if I update Office to 1710 version, please update your Office to 1710 version.

Lydia

@Jeremie,

Please try the workaround below.

1.  Download MSOLAP 7 from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/8/2/482E5799-9B8E-4724-8A4C-F301BAE788EE/13.0.3523.4/1033/x...

2. Close all office applications

3. Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\VFS\ProgramFilesX86\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\140 and rename the adal.dll to adal_orig.dll (if you have excel 64 bit use the version from Program Files)

4. Copy the adal.dll from here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\130 to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\VFS\ProgramFilesX86\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\140  (if you have excel 64 bit use the version from Program Files)

5. Open the odc file and see if it works for you.

Lydia

@Jeremie,

The response of PG is as follows:

The root cause of this issue is the ADAL library (version 1.0.2044.414) shipped with MSOLAP 8. We are now pushing for updating the ADAL version in MSOLAP and Office. This could take a while.

Lydia

I'm using version 1708.  Is there a work around for this?

Thanks Lydia.  Using version 13 adal.dll instead of 14 seems to work.  Is there a bug fix for this in the queue?  I assume it's an office bug, and not a power BI bug.  What are my options if I have to roll this option out across a business?
