Naming of update method

Hi,

I'm just curious how whatever script is controlling the overall window knows what method to call on the visual.

When creating a new visual, by default the name of the method is "update", so at first I assumed that it would simply be the "update" method that got called every time.

But then I was looking through the source code of the built-in map visual and it has no method called update. Instead there's methods like updateInternal. So how is it determined which method needs to be called on update?

Thanks

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

The update method was optional for the legacy API.

However, this method is required for cusom visuals that based on the new API.

@callum,

The repository is deprecated. Look at the module, it is module powerbi.visuals, not module powerbi.extensibility.visual. The update method might be optional.
