YOY growth nuances

Hi community, 

 

I am working on a PBI model using fiscal calendar, now we are in mid of june so my question is do I have to use the original formula TOtal sales - PY sales /PY sales * 100. But when I look at the my companies previous dashboards they used a formula current YTD - Prior YTD /Prior YTD * 100 . SO I am not sure which is the correct way. Could anyone suggest me insights on this ?
