Good evening,
I am having problem while using a data set from Power Bi in Excel.
I have mainly 2 problems while creating pivot tables:
1- Numbers are not recognize as number but as text which I have already fixed it by using measures... so I have only one problem 🙂 which is the following.
2- Dates, that are created in date format in Power Bi, are exported in text format. As a result of I cannot organize my information by months, dates; etc properly. To be clear, I cannot create hierarchies from dates.
Does any one have a solution?
Thanks in advance
@bharath_v thanks for your answer but does not solve my problem.
In fact, my data set already done as you say. Neverthless, the problem comes while you take the data set of Power Bi in Excel. At that moment, even though the format is properly done in PowerBi in Excel it is recognized as text.
To sum up, the problem is Excel while using the data set from powerBi.
Hi,
Meet too have the same problem, when I try to connect with power BI data set in excel. My date column in power bi is getting converted as text in excel. Have you got any solution for it ?
Hi @josujimenez1994
You will need to transform your data first. To do that follow these steps:
1. Go to "Transform Data"
2. Next go to "Transform"
3. Select the required column e.g. Date and change the Data Type to Date or Date/Time as needed
4. Do the same for text column not recognised as number
5. Close and Apply

If I answered your question then pls mark my post as "Accept it as the solution" and a kudo would be appreciated.
