I have a powerbi book, that is using 29 source tables (each a seperate domain API call), and a combined table that unites all of the data.
When I refresh, it takes 61 credits of my api sources, meaning for some reason it's refreshing the tables more than twice each time I refresh it? This is strange, and I don't actually need to refresh this workbook that often, but I'd like it to be neat.
For example, for the same table, I have these refresh time stamps, for a single table

is there something I can change in the PowerBI book settings so that it's more efficient?
That is "standard" behavior of Power Query. There is no guarantee whatsoever that your Power Query will only run once. Whenever it feels like it will launch canary queries (akin to "Select top 0") to re-harvest the meta data from the source.
