Slicer visual not displaying Slicer Data only.

I am currently doing training course on Power BI and in one of the lessons I am instructed to open Desktop, select the Slicer Visual and place on desktop.  However my version (jun 2018) does not display the slicer; only the data results.  How do I rectify this issue?

I have the slicer visualization highlighted and as you can see it does not display the slicer coeewxrly.

This is on focus Mode. You can select any value in the slicer.

This is the slicer by default. Do you want to see like a dropdown?

I would like to see the slicer bar not the data or drop down.

Review if you Data Column is a number Type not Text. (Modeling - Type)
