Hi @kunuthuri,
How do you connect with the data source? There are three ways: Import, DirectQuery, Live connection.
There are two scenarios about setting Row level Security in Power BI about SQL Server.
1. If you connect the data source with import or Direct query , you could create Roles in Power BI Desktop under the Modeling, Manage Roles.
For this scenario, you could refer to Dynamic Row Level Security and Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI.
2. If you work with Analysis Services Tabular model in Live connection, you should create roles in the tabular model, the detail steps you could refer to Dynamic row level security with Analysis services tabular model and this article.
Best Regards,
Cherry
Hi @v-piga-msft
Beyond the two scenarios that you described, could I connect my Power BI Desktop to a SQL database with RLS trough an SSAS model? I would like to know if I can use the impersonation on SSAS to get and pass the user to the database and filter the data according to my RLS rules.
Thank you,
Fred
