Retain Cases in a single column

Hi all,

 

i want to retain the Case of the column where the same value in different cases retains its case when i import data from excel to powerbi. is this possible.Please help Ex: TOTAL INFRASTRUCTURE should be Upper case if exported to powerbi and Total Infrastructure should be Total Infrastructure(camel case) ans total infrastructure should be total infrastructure (lower case)

Hi @ak77 ,

 

If I understand correctly, you want the case to be loaded into the model as is? Per testing, Power BI loads the text case as is unless you did any of the following:

Here's the screenshot of texts loaded into the model. You can see that the cases are retained.

By the looks of it, you actually did transform the column as total infrastructure (in lowercase) is nowhere to be found in your model. They're all in Capitalize each word. If you want to retain the UPPERCASE, create a custom column with a similar formula as below and then use that column instead.

if Text.Upper([Column]) = [Column] then [Column] else Text.Proper([Column])

Based on your example, not changing the case of your column in Power Query, will load the text strings as is. Are you trying to achieve something else? If so please provide a better example.
