Hi, I am new to PBI and python and I am trying to execute a python script on PBI. I have a time series model on python (using fbprophet) that I want to run on PBI but I keep getting the following error - DataSource.Error: ADO.NET: python.exe not found.
python.exe was not found in the specified directory. Please make sure you have a complete Python installation.
I set up a virtual environment because I kept getting an error/conflict message while trying to download fbprophet regularly on the command prompt. The virtual environment solved that issue but now it seems like PBI does not recognize python. I have tried most of the solutions online of trying to integrate PBI with anaconda but haven't really found a resolve yet. Any help with this and also generally with running fbprophet on PBI would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hi @mukundkalani21 ,
Please make sure that python installation selected in options page is what you expect.
In Power BI Desktop, select File > Options and settings > Options > Python scripting. The Python script options page appears.
Maybe this document Run Python scripts in Power BI Desktop can help you.
Or you can uninstall and re-install the python and try again. https://www.python.org/downloads/

Hi, thank you for your reply. I have tried the methods you suggested but it still doesn't work. Do you think it could be a PBI issue/maybe a python package issue that doesn't run on PBI?
Python works if I don't use anaconda and just use the Python Shell itself. However I run into problems with running the specific python package.
Hello I share my LinkedIn article I hope it serves you.
Hi @mukundkalani21 ,
Please update the Power BI to the latest version and try again.
If it still has this issue, maybe it is a python package issue.
Because we couldn't reproduce the issue here and also not found an effective solution. We suggest you to open a ticket here for help if the issue is very urgent: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/
