Power BI Refresh - Incorporating New Data into SQL

I currently have a dataset on SQL Server, and everyday Power BI resreshes this data through an enterprise gateway.  This works well consistently.  The time has come to add an additional data source to the dataset, which will expand the columns and rows.

Will I need to do anything to have PBI recognize that the data has expanded?  (I know when using flat files as a data source you need to manipulate PBI to see the additional columns).

or, is it possible that PBI will auto-magically recognize the expanded dataset, and run successfully?

Thanks.

That depends very much on your query if columns are added automatically.

If you have steps like „Select Columns“ or „Expand column“ when joining tables, additional columns in the source wouldn’t show up in your dataset. You need to select these columns first.

Otherwise, there shouldn’t be a problem and your columns should show up.
