Power BI Desktop does not refresh and errors can't be found

Hello everyone. I have a report that is published in the service. I am working in the desktop version in order to make a minor changes in the appearence, but when I try to refresh the data, the refresh won't happen and the error message almost inmediatly dissapear. I had to film in slow motion my screen in order to catch the message as can be seing in the next image:

refresh failurerefresh failure

The image says that the load of the tables has being blocked by errors in other queries. I have checked all the queries but none of them present errors. Also the message automatically dissapear as soon as I get the error, and this thing never happened to me, as I always manually closed the window of refresh every time an error occured to me in the past.

In the service, the data refresh proccesses are occuring without any problem. And the files are the same. I am working with the PBI file downloaded from the service.

The data comes from daily excel files hosted in a sharepoint.

Summarizing. I can't refresh data in desktop and can't figure out why this is happening because there is no error in the query despite a signal appearing and vanishing very quickly.

I have manually checked all queries in power query but without finding the so called error that is preventing the report to update in the desktop version.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

There must be a table which might be the root cause of all blockers, Check for all the tables.

Also As said data source is Excel from sharepoint, If column names in source are changed and transformations in power Query being applied on them and Cause coulmn not found error.

Hope this Helps

I was having an issue with one of my parameters but there were no warning or message about it, I just checked everything in power query until I found it.

Thanks everybody for the responses.

Hi Akchinna, thanks for your response. I have manually checked all tables but could not find any error. I have ways to detect changes in column's names or numbers, but I think that kind of error will appear, as they have appeared before.

@matbau weird that error disappears, do you able to scroll down to see which table is giving the error, seems like that is something you are not able to do, correcT?

I am experiencing the same issues of unable to refresh in the Power Bi Desktop, but the same file refreshes perfectly in the online service. The underlying data has not changed and no queries have changed. The only difference is that I upgraded from the Jul 2022 version to the Dec 2022 version.

Now the Refresh fails and the error messages immeditaly close offering no solution to root cause the problem.

None of the advice given so far applies to this issue.

I have the same problem and coincidentally started when I upgraded from April 2022 to July 2022. At the moment the problem is solved after I enter into Power Query (without making any changes), as if with this the tables were updated in the background.

I will keep looking for a solution.

Hello parry2k, thanks for your response. I scrolled and search for every table in the message by updating several times and filming the error as it disappear. As you said, disappearing error is the most strange thing I have encountered in power bi so far.

Hi @matbau ,

Whether the error appear again? If no, could you please mark the helpful post as Answered? Thank you.
