PBI Desktop Filled Map no function? 2.55.5010.641 32-bit (2018.02) x86/x64, also in 2.56(2018.03)

oh my god, I lost my post...

I'm a beginer.

does any one have same problem?

I've try many times,  the result is 2.54.4970.961 X86 (2018.01 english) work fine. but the newer version is not.

I follow the courses of  MS data journalism(https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/datajournalism/)

but filled map on dashboard still not work (no retrive data and no color ).

but i remember the old version is work fine. (maybe 2017.02~2017.06, not sure)

so i found the 2.54 (2018.01) and do some simple test

2.55.5010.641 32 (trad chinese)-add Filled Map in dashboard, enter data ( 1 col & 1 row, data is "china") => not working.

2.55.5010.641 64 (trad chinese)-add Filled Map in dashboard, enter data ( 1 col & 1 row, data is "china") => not working.

2.54.4970.961 64 (trad chinese)-add Filled Map in dashboard, enter data ( 1 col & 1 row, data is "china") => not working.

2.54.4970.961 32 (english)- add Filled Map in dashboard, enter data ( 1 col & 1 row, data is "china") => OK,

  (has green color of china in map)

2.56.5023.942 64 (trad chinese)-add Filled Map in dashboard, enter data ( 1 col & 1 row, data is "china" or "中國") => not working.

not work.

worked!!

I try to do same MS courses on another 2 PCs , has same problem too.

did i do something wrong??

OS:

  WIN 7 SP1 / 10 X64 (traditional chinese)

PBI DESKTOP:

  2.55.5010.641 32/64 bit (2018.02) (traditional chinese)

  2.54.4970.961 32(english) /64 bit (2018.01) (traditional chinese)

  2.56.5023.942 64-bit (2018年3月, trad-chinese) , NOT work again.

     even I download the simple from MS PBI data journalism .zip file, could not work~

Hi @star999,

Please enter your data in trad chinese rather than English, and check if it works fine. In addition, please share your sample data so that I can use it to test if I can reproduce you scenairo.

I want to chime in and mention i'm having similar issues.  It honestly depends where I try this.  Some machines it works, others it doesn't.  We recently made changes to our network infrastructure and how we connect to the internet, so i'm currently expecting that is causing my issues.

I've try 4 PCs to install PBI V2.54/ V2.55 & X86/X64 , Both of them have same problem.

There are different OS(W7&W10)/ HW(Laptop&Desktop) / network environment( ADSL& VDSL & TANET & WIFI )

In the same PC, If I use V2.54(X86) , It's work.  Try V2.55(X64/X86) NOT.

Both of 4 PCs, V2.54(X86) Filled Map work fine. others not.

I've try "china" & "中國" before, only v2.54 (2018.01) X86(English) PBI can be work.

The picture will show later.

If PBI v2.55 (2018.02) x86 / x64 open this file, Filled Map is not work.

maybe it a bug?????

BUT

2.54.4970.961 (2018.01) X86 is worked !!

only x86 version, 2.54.4970.961 (2018.01) X64 still NOT working!!

so, I do a simple test,

2.54.4970.961 32 bit (2018.01) add a Filled Map in dashboard, enter data (only 1 col & 1 row ,the value is "china") => worked!

  filled map show green color of CHINA .
