Navigation between report pages

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can provide some suggestions for page navigation within the PBI report. Basically the report will be accessed via browser, tablet, mobile, and MS service hub.

At this stage we ignore mobile layout since it has a different design view. For other devices, we have tried few options but rejected by end users:

Drill through: the default behaviour is cross filter.User needs to know turn on drill through feature on the visual. Additionally on Service Hub or tablet, user needs to press for few seconds and wait for the context menu.

URL navigation: it will open a new tab everytime, user gets confused in navigation after open a few tabs

Bookmark: If we have 50 projects to drill through, we need to create 50 bookmarks

So is there any option we can use for page navigation? e.g. default visual click behaviour to drill through, URL navigation can point to _self, Bookmark can pass parameter value, or selection in custom visual can overwrite slicer value (selection in a customer table can pass the selected value to slicer, so we can use sync slicer value to other pages)?

thanks in advance

Hi guys,

Thanks for the response.

At this stage my guess is that Power BI embed probably is the only choice left, but obviously if we take this approach, it involves extra work loads.

Regarding bookmarks + template, it is a good suggestion. However in our situation, the end users of the report include c level users so we cannot treat it as an option.

This idea, URLs with Targets would be a big step forward in making reports made up of several reports work seemlessly for the end user.

Hi @qyz225,

Just referrring to the point you made about bookmarks. If you create your report once and export it into Power BI Template, you can share that template with 50 different users, they can then enter their own data source connection string and load the report for themselves.

In short, no need to create a bookmark 50 times.

Hi @qyz225,

As I know, Drillthrough and Bookmark are good for Navigation between report pages.

I'm afraid that there is no other better ways for us to navigation between report pages currently in Power BI.

You could have a good look at this video which demo around 52:00 shows drilling into other reports from visuals, and a whole bookmarking feature

Best Regards,

Cherry
