Manually search the long and lat of a certain place (TomTom)

Hi,

Would like to ask for your help. I have a map that shows the long and latitude of a certain place. I got the data from an API in tomtom and the long and latitude is hard coded in the API URL. My question is.. Is it possible for it to be dynamic? meaning I will just have a search box in my dashboard and the user will input the long and lat of their desired place.

Is it possible?

Hi @icdns ,

Here are some possible steps:

  • In Power BI Desktop, make sure that your longitude and latitude fields are categorized as such in the data view.
  • Create a map visualization and drag the longitude and latitude fields to the respective buckets. You can also add other fields such as magnitude or depth to the size or color saturation buckets.
  • Create a slicer visualization and drag the longitude and latitude fields to the field bucket. You can also format the slicer to show as a text box or a drop-down list.
  • Sync the slicer with the map visualization by selecting Edit interactions from the Format tab and making sure that the filter icon is selected for the map.
  • Publish your report to Power BI service and make sure that you have access to Bing Maps URLs for geocoding.
