MAPS! on power bi!

Hi All!

Help with the "maps" function. So i have my stores location and the customers locations and i want to show them in comparison. Is there a way on the map to do this? AKA, customers "blue" while store "red" or something like that?

Hi,

Please try to combine [Customer] and [Stores] by UNION function.

Like this:

New Table =
UNION (
    SELECTCOLUMNS ( 'Table 1', "Category", 'Table 1'[Customers] ),
    SELECTCOLUMNS ( 'Table 2', "Category", 'Table 2'[Stores] )
)

The new column 'New Table'[Category] generated by above formula is the combined result.

If my answer has solved your issue, please mark it as a solution for others to see.
Thanks!

Best Regards,

Giotto

Hey @alisonpappas ,

to get you started with maps I recommend the whitepaper by David Eldersveld from  BLUEGRANITE: https://www.blue-granite.com/maps-power-bi-whitepaper

Hopefully, this will provide some additional insights.

Regards,

Tom

Hi,

Please try to create this column:

Group =
SWITCH (
    TRUE,
    FIND ( "Store", 'Table'[Category], 1, 0 ) <> 0, "Store",
    FIND ( "Customer", 'Table'[Category], 1, 0 ) <> 0, "Customer"
)

Then set this group data color, the result shows:

3.PNG

5.PNG

See my attached pbix file.

Best Regards,

Giotto

Hi Giotto,

THank you! However, my customers and stores are in 2 different tables. do you know if is there a way to combine that?

@alisonpappas you can easily combine these two tables in power query using append function

@alisonpappas depends on how your data looks like, you can sure do that by dropping category column on the legend of the map visual. In this case category column values will be Customer Location and Store Location.

I would  Kudos if my solution helped. 👉 If you can spend time posting the question, you can also make efforts to give Kudos whoever helped to solve your problem. It is a token of appreciation!
