Let user edit, select and export data (scenario analysis?)

Hi!
I have a report, that shows an entire marketing channel, from the factory, to wholesaler, to retail and end user.

The goal is to identify which retailers should buy from which wholesaler, this is easy to see using the visuals and filters, but I can´t find a visual that could let the user select retailers and assign them to certain wholesaler, save that info, and export it.

Instead, we are working with the report on one side of the screen, and an excel file on the other, manually taking note of the desired changes.

Is the any way to do this inside of the Power Bi service? A drag and drop would be ideal, but maybe a dropdown list, actually I´m open to any suggestion. I have been looking at power apps, embedded in Power Bi reports, but I´m not sure that is a valid path.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ImPalaBI,

PBI is a business intelligence tool it's purpose is not to change the data but make analisys of the information and take insights to what I can understand your requirement is to change the information in order to have that information available for others correct?

Based on this what you refer is the way to go using power apps to change the database.

If you just want to make a simple link between the information without changing the data itself one option can be using the selection on visualization and using a DAX measure to export the information. I have setup a model that send out an email based on the selected invoices with detail of those invoices for example is text only but give the user the information needed.

Regarding the exporting part you can detail in each visualization if its possible to export the data to excel format so if the user needs it can click the 3 dots on top of the visualization and export it.

Miguel Félix

Hey @ImPalaBI,

actually you will need somehow a way of "writeback" otherwise you can't "select and assign your records".

Now you need to choose a writeback option

  • Power Apps
  • PowerOnBI (Company that is selling a writebackvisual)
  • Acterys (Company that is selling a writeback visual)
  • Custom develop a writeback visual (I wouldn't recommend that :-P)

Please don't forget to give a 👍

Have a nice day!
